Sage-ing while Age-ing by Shirley MacLaine

Sage-ing while Age-ingIt would be fun to sit and have coffee with Shirley! What a character she must be!

What I learned from this book is that we just need to be ourselves.  Sometimes we think to conform others will like or respect us more.. which in fact could be the case. She has a line in the book that says something about how as she has aged she just believes everything.  What I took from that was that we spend alot of time as we are aging that we judge and evaluate others ideas and are not always open to the possibility of the ideas.  She seems to say just what she thinks and gathers information from her travels around the globe to places most of us can only imagine.

Ok.. she does have a strong belief in the possibility of life on other planets.  Is ET out there?  I used to think people that thought we should set up big radar to try to capture some waves from outer space or that those who saw flying saucers were a bit crazy.  But, now, I just think… “maybe?”

I love that she has a wall in her home that celebrates her and her life through photos.  I was at a friends home a few years ago and she had lots of photos of herself sprinkled in her home.  The included shots with her family and at different locations in the world.  I went home and printed out more photos of myself to remind me of my life.

Near the same time I read books by Carol Burnett and Julie Andrews.  Those three women have entertained me most of my life.  What a different perspective and take on their life.  What they all share is a genuine honesty and wonderful sense of humor.
